Anne Hathaway apologizes to journalist after their 'cringe' interview resurfaces: 'She sent a long email explaining her behavior'
Anne Hathaway apologized to a journalist after a cringe-worthy 2012 interview they did together appeared online. Norwegian entertainment writer Kjersti Flaa shared a video from the "Les Miserables" press junket in which Hathaway was brusque in some of her responses and declined Flaa's offer to sing one of the questions and answers with her. Hugh Jackman and Eddie Redmayne, Hathaway's co-stars, consented to Flaa's singing request, but Hathaway declined: "Well, I won't be doing that, but you're more than welcome to sing."

It appears Hathaway became aware of the revived interview, as Flaa shared an updated video a few days later, revealing that the Oscar winner had contacted her through her manager to apologize for the cringeworthy conversation. Variety confirmed with Hathaway's representative that the actor had formally reacted to Flaa.
"Yesterday, I received an email. It came from Anne Hathaway's publicist, who passed a note to me from her. "I have to say, I was quite surprised," Flaa remarked. "I did not expect her to contact me at all. I believed she'd never watch the video, but she did. And she accomplished something rather spectacular."
"She apologized for giving me an awful interview and sent me a long email explaining her situation at the time." "It was very touching for me," Flaa continued. "Just talking about it makes me almost teary eyed because I was just so grateful that she did that."
Flaa declined to publish the entire email to her audience, but did say that Hathaway sent a "very personal note" and invited Flaa to interview her the next time she has a significant picture release in 2025.
"I'm really looking forward to that, Anne," she said.
Flaa made news this summer when she revived an interview with Blake Lively from 2016. The journalist described the viral film as "the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced." Flaa revived the interview during Lively's contentious press tour for "It Ends With Us."
