Ahead of her Saturday Night Live hosting debut this weekend, Charli XCX joked with cast member Marcello Hernández in a new teaser.

Hernández asks at one point in the video where his attire ranks on the "brat" scale. "Hi, I'm Charli XCX, and I'll be the host and musical guest this week on SNL," Charli says before Hernández adds, "Charli, do you like my outfit? "Is it a brat?"
"There's a thin line between brat and brong," she explains. Hernández says, "Oh, what side am I on?"
"That is for the nation to decide," Charli replies with a smile.
The commercial refers to the "Brat Summer" craze, which swept the internet earlier this year with the publication of the pop star's sixth studio album brat in June. As for what "brat" implies, the singer previously noted in a TikTok video, "You're just like that chick that is a bit dirty, likes to party, and may say some silly things on occasion. Who feels like herself but may possibly be experiencing a collapse. But, like, parties through it, is extremely honest and frank. A little volatile. Like, does foolish stuff. But it's a brat. You're a brat. "That is brat."
This was also not the first time SNL brought up the "brat" phenomena. Earlier in the 50th season of the sketch comedy program, cast member Bowen Yang dressed up as the "360" singer for a parody about a phony talk show called The Talk Talk program with Charli XCX.
After the concert, Charli applauded Yang's portrayal of her, telling Howard Stern on his SiriusXM station, "I love Bowen, and I honestly think he did a great job." I was actually quite amazed with the texture of the hair. I thought it was a pretty nice wig. It was good. "It was cool."
Though this will be Charli's first time hosting SNL, she has previously been as a musical guest in 2014 and 2022.
