Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs accused of raping 13-year-old girl in amended lawsuit

Jay-Z and Sean Combs faced a civil lawsuit on Sunday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The case, filed in October in the Southern District of New York, first named the Roc Nation entrepreneur, Shawn Carter, as an anonymous celebrity defendant. Carter has flatly refuted the accusation, accusing the lawyer who filed the action of attempting to extort him with bogus assertions.

The accuser, suing as Jane Doe, claimed she was raped by Combs and Carter while being transported to an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.

According to the amended lawsuit, Doe attempted to attend the VMAs but did not have a ticket. She was dropped off near Radio City Music Hall by a friend. She claims she contacted limousine drivers to ask for assistance in getting into the performance or afterparty. One of the drivers claimed to work with Combs and asked her to an after party. Per the lawsuit, he urged her to return to the place where they met so he could drive her to the event after driving Combs and others to the afterparty.

Two men requested Doe to sign a contract, which she said she didn't understand but now believes was a non-disclosure agreement, according to the lawsuit. She was told not to discuss the proceedings at the occasion. Doe asserted she recognized numerous celebrities there and saw extensive drug usage.

Doe began to "feel woozy and lightheaded, making her need to lie down," the lawsuit alleges, after being handed a drink by a waiter. Doe then looked for a spot to rest and discovered a room with a spacious bed. Shortly after, Combs reportedly entered the room with Carter and an unnamed female celebrity, the lawsuit states.

Combs "aggressively approached Plaintiff with a crazed look in his eyes, grabbed her, and said, 'You are ready to party!'"

"Combs then threw Plaintiff toward a wall, causing Plaintiff to fall," per the lawsuit. Doe then tried to stand up and tripped. "Combs grabbed her again and slammed her into the bed. Carter began removing Plaintiff's clothes as she became increasingly dizzy, according to the lawsuit. Doe alleges Carter held her down while allegedly raping her in front of Combs and the female celebrity.

Afterward, Combs allegedly raped Doe in front of Carter and an unnamed female celebrity. Combs then allegedly tried to compel Doe to have oral sex with him, but she fought back and hit him in the neck, "stopped his attempt," according to the lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, following the claimed attack, Doe "grabbed her clothes" and fled. She found her way to a petrol station and asked her father to pick her up, she recalls.

In a statement, Jay-Z accused Doe's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of extortion through a demand letter.

"What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle," the statement read. "No, sir; it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you as the phony that you are in a very public way."

"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one," the statement continues. "Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away." It continues: "These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."

"My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit," the statement adds.

"This amended complaint and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee exposes his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs," Combs' legal representative said in a statement. "As his legal team has already said, Mr. Combs has complete trust in the facts and the integrity of the court process. In court, the truth will prevail: Mr. Combs never sexually abused or trafficked anyone, man or woman, adult or minor."

Jane Doe seeks unspecified damages. Her lawsuit is one of at least 20 filed by Buzbee clients against Combs to far. The Texas-based lawyer has said that he is representing over 120 individuals against Combs. He initially sued Combs in October, filing six cases in total. More than 30 sexual misconduct cases have been brought against Combs since November 2023, when his former lover Casandra "Cassie" Ventura first sued him for rape and trafficking. The complaint was resolved within 24 hours, but it sparked more claims and a criminal inquiry.

Combs, 55, was indicted in September and has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution. The media mogul was arrested in New York City on September 16 and has been jailed since then. He is being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial is scheduled for May 2025.

In November, a self-described celebrity sued Buzbee anonymously, claiming the lawyer was "shamelessly" attempting to extort him while representing over 100 men and women with alleged legal claims against Combs. According to a statement posted on X on Sunday by Buzbee, the unidentified celebrity is Carter. "My firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim, and that victim never demanded a penny from him," Buzbee stated in response to Carter's claims. "Instead, she requested a confidential mediation. Since I wrote the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but has also attempted to bully and threaten me and the plaintiff."
