Kate Hudson reveals why she regrets Devil Wears Prada decision
Kate Hudson still regretted passing down a job in The Devil Wears Prada.
The actress, who was first approached to play Andy Sachs (which Anne Hathaway eventually played), recently told Capital FM that she wished she had made her schedule work to feature in the 2006 picture starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

"That was a horrible decision. And it seems like a timing issue. "I couldn't do it, and I should have, but I didn't," Hudson said. "When I saw that one, I thought, awful. However, everything occurs for a purpose. There is a reason behind that. That was really like, 'I should've made that work.'"
The Devil Wears Prada, directed by David Frankel, was based on Lauren Weisberger's novel of the same title. It follows ambitious writer Andy, who moves to New York City and begins working as an assistant to one of the city's most prominent high fashion magazine editors, the cynical Miranda Priestly (Steep).
"It's funny, it's waves of things that are happening and people shooting at different times," Hudson added. "It's not like you don't do them because you don't want to do them. It's like, oh, you're doing something else. And it just sucked, you know?"
Hudson was working on numerous other projects at the time of The Devil Wears Prada's publication, including 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 2005's The Skeleton Key, 2006's You, Me, and Dupree, 2008's Fool's Gold, and 2008's My Best Friend's Girl. She then collaborated with Hathaway for 2009's Bride Wars.
The Devil Wears Prada made over $326 million worldwide and received two Oscar nominations. A sequel is now in early production at Disney, with original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna writing the script.
