Marvel Studios reveals cast for Avengers: Doomsday – New additions and iconic returns

‎Marvel Studios is once again gathering the Avengers for an epic battle in Avengers: Doomsday, set for release on May 1, 2026. Six years after Avengers: Endgame shattered box-office records, the studio is preparing for another monumental chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As production prepares to begin in London next month, Marvel has unveiled its initial cast, signaling an electrifying new phase for the MCU.

‎The announcement, made via a livestream event, revealed an ensemble that blends iconic returning heroes with fresh faces, hinting at a thrilling, star-studded adventure. Among the returning favorites are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier. Additionally, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez’s The Falcon, and Winston Duke’s M’Baku are all confirmed to reprise their roles.
‎Excitingly, Avengers: Doomsday also brings in major actors from the X-Men franchise. Patrick Stewart returns as Charles Xavier, and Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role as Beast, first seen in X-Men: The Last Stand and The Marvels. The film also welcomes cast members from the Fantastic Four, including Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch.
‎Marvel is continuing its tradition of bringing together diverse elements from its vast cinematic universe. Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, and Hannah John-Kamen will represent the Thunderbolts universe, while Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who portrayed the Submariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is set to return to the MCU despite controversy surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct—claims which he has denied.
‎The announcement that Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU as Iron Man has sent shockwaves through the fanbase. Downey’s character met a tragic end in Endgame, and his return marks a highly anticipated chapter in the MCU’s evolution. His reappearance comes after he was pitched a new role by Kevin Feige, Marvel's president, as the infamous villain Doctor Doom. Downey is reuniting with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who last helmed Endgame before departing the MCU. The Russo Brothers, along with their frequent collaborator Stephen McFeely, have crafted a unique take on this new installment.
‎Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a groundbreaking film in the MCU, uniting both legacy characters and fresh faces in a climactic event that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. The film is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
