The 27-year-old Euphoria and Anyone But You star decided to part ways with Davino, 41, after seven years together. While fans speculated about the couple’s status in recent months, insiders have now confirmed the split.
A source close to Sweeney told People that the actress realized she wasn’t ready to settle down and is choosing to focus entirely on her blossoming career. “She’s exactly where she wants to be,” the source said. “Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects. What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it.”
TMZ reports that the couple quietly separated back in January, with their last public appearance being on January 20. The outlet also previously revealed that their May wedding was postponed, initially framing it as a delay — now understood as the beginning of the end.
Us Weekly corroborated the breakup, quoting a source who stated, “Sydney and Jonathan are officially split. [She is] telling friends she is single.” Another insider noted that the wedding, initially scheduled for this spring, has been entirely canceled.
Though Sweeney hasn’t publicly commented on the split, she did remove a photo of herself kissing Davino from Instagram, sparking breakup rumors. Other images of him remain on her account.
In a December 2023 interview with Glamour UK, Sweeney acknowledged her desire for privacy in romantic matters: “Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what’s that like, but I think it’s important to have something for me,” she said. “I’m very open [otherwise]...but I do try to keep something for me.”
Now at the center of an in-demand Hollywood career, Sweeney is reportedly focusing on professional opportunities rather than personal milestones — choosing self-fulfillment over settling down.
